Choral Pedagogy in Practice: Slippery Rock University

This insight choir session explores the transforma-
tive power of engaging with a living composer through
vocal pedagogy and culturally responsive teaching.
Composer B. E. Boykin joins the session to reflect on
her work and creative process as the choir performs and
rehearses her commissioned piece live. Participants will
observe teaching strategies that center student identi-
ty, vocal development, and community building using
Estill Voice Training, Laban Movement Analysis, and
Social-Emotional Learning. The session invites con-
